Course Requirements
Along with your student visa and Australian Centre of English policies, all students need to comply with course requirements which are imposed by National Code of Practice 2018 and other regulations.
Attendance Requirements
In accordance with National Code of Practice 2018, all students need to maintain at least 80% attendance throughout their course. If you fail to maintain 80% attendance, you will be reported to the Department of Home Affairs on the grounds of breaching your visa conditions.
To monitor your attendance and provide you with support services when needed, Australian Centre of English has in place policies and procedures. The process is defined as below:
- If your attendance falls below 90%, you will receive an e-mail with ‘Notification of Attendance Requirements’ in which you are reminded the conditions of your course and advised to attend a meeting with the Academic Manager.
- If your attendance falls below 85%, you will receive a ‘Warning letter for attendance’, in which you are advised to attend a meeting with the Academic Manager.
- If your attendance falls below 80%, you will receive ‘Notification of Intention to Report’, after which you might be reported to the Department of Home Affairs if you do not have any compelling and compassionate reasons. You will have a right to start Complaints and Appeals process regarding our decision to report you.
Our staff, teachers and the Academic Manager in Australian Centre of English are here to help you with your course and any other matter you might have. Please come and see us when you need a support, especially if you receive any warning letters.
Course Progress Requirements
In accordance with National Code of Practice 2018, all students need to show an academic progress in their course. This implies that all students need to comply with assessment requirements in their course, submit assignments and attend weekly tests.
After analysis of your academic progress in each 6th week, if your average grade from your weekly tests is below 50% and your teacher agrees that you are at risk meeting of academic progress requirements, you will receive a ‘notification of academic progress requirements’ advising you to attend an interview with the Academic Manager.
If your course progress continues to be at risk, you might receive 1st and 2nd warning letters and notification of intention to report in the end.
Student Code of Conduct
Australian Centre of English expects all students to follow the rules and regulations set out for students to ensure that they are studying in a safe learning environment.
The Student Code of Conduct includes the behaviors and manners which you are expected to maintain while you are in the college.
Please note that failing with complying with the Student Code of Conduct might result in penalties and expulsion from Australian Centre of English.
